Area of Specialization
Perfectionism, Overthinking & Getting Stuck
(The pressure to get it right)
Overthinking decisions long after they should be settled
Reworking, refining, or second-guessing things that are already done
Getting stuck in planning instead of taking action
Avoiding tasks because you can’t do them the “right” way
Swinging between high productivity and complete shutdown
Feeling frustrated with yourself for not following through
You think things through carefully. You hold yourself to a high standard. You want to do things well.
But at a certain point, your mind stops helping and starts getting in the way.
You may find it hard to start unless you feel fully prepared. Hard to finish because something still feels incomplete. Hard to move on because your mind keeps revisiting what could be better, tighter, or more thought through.
What looks like thoughtfulness on the surface can feel like pressure underneath.
This can show up in different ways:
For some, this is tied to a strong internal standard. There is a clear sense of how things should be done, and it’s hard to relax that standard without feeling uncomfortable or off.
For others, there is an ADHD component. You may feel capable and motivated, but inconsistent. You start with intention, then get pulled off track. Deadlines create urgency, but also stress. The gap between what you know you can do and what actually gets done can feel discouraging.
In many cases, both are happening at the same time.

The more you care, the tighter your mind holds onto getting it right. Often, there is a strong inner critic that reinforces the idea that anything less than your best is not enough.
You might find yourself trying to think your way into clarity before acting. Trying to eliminate uncertainty before beginning. Trying to get it just right so you can finally feel settled.
It keeps you stuck.
Over time, this pattern can become exhausting. Not because you aren’t capable, but because so much energy is going into managing how things get done rather than actually moving through them.
The focus becomes loosening that over-control so you can move forward without needing everything to feel perfect or resolved first.
That includes:
Letting go of the need to get things exactly right before starting
Interrupting patterns of overthinking and compulsive refining
Building consistency, even when motivation or clarity isn’t there
Learning how to move forward alongside uncertainty
